I’ve been asked the same question frequently for long time: which clothes wholesale market is the best in Guangzhou, Baima, Shahe or Shisanhang? Actually each China clothes wholesale market has its own peculiarities.
Take Baima clothes wholesale markets as example, some clothes are indeed low standard goods from Shahe clothing wholesale markets and Shisanhang wholesale markets. The clothes that are sold at 50 RMB, 80 RMB or even more indeed are wholesaled at about 30 RMB at Shahe or Shisanhang. Most of the China clothing wholesale stores there mainly target at foreigners with its strategic location. There would be some disadvantages if you can’t speak Cantonese or Mandarin.
The clothes in Zhanxi clothes wholesale market area is much cheaper than those in Baima clothes wholesale market area. The quality is of medium level and features popular style as spotted in some fashion magazines. Some of the styles can also be founded on taobao. One of the best thing about Zhanxi clothing wholesale market is that it is much easy to negotiate price there than in Baima clothes wholesale market.
When speaking of Shahe clothes wholesale markets, the word “low quality” might come into most fashion buyers’ mind. Admittedly, it is low quality but very cheap, and it is the first choice of most people. Indeed, lots of stores in Shisanhang, Zhanxi, Baima would go to Shahe for some cheap clothes, and then sell in their stores. Most green hands are mislead into believing that the clothes in Shahe wholesale market are nothing but low quality, indeed, that’s not right. There are different qualities of clothes there, and as long as you employ enough patience, you can certainly get quality and cheap clothes. The opening time of Shahe clothes market is the earliest in Guangzhou wholesale markets. Usually those who come at 3 or 4 am to Shahe wholesale markets are store owners from other clothes wholesale markets. They get the clothes there and then go directly to their store and sell them. For old customers they would usually come at 4 or 5 am. Sometimes if you are lucky enough, you might come across some clothes stores are selling their clothes according to the weight. I remembered one time I’ve seen a store selling women’s T-shirt at 1 RMB per piece, which is sold at about 30 RMB outside.
The stores at Shahe wholesale markets also close very earlier. In the hot selling seasons, the stores usually close at about 5 pm, but in the seasons when sales are not so good, they would close at about 1 or 2 pm. Set the alarm and go to the markets earlier if you are aiming to get good products.
As to the wholesale price, there are two terms to bear in mind, which are “wholesale price” and “package price”. Usually most stores offer mixed wholesale, that means you can enjoy the wholesale prices as long as the products(they can be different style ones) you order reaches the minimum quantity. As to “package price”, that means you can get much lower price than wholesale price if you order the same style of clothes, and the quantity reaches the store’s minimum purchase quantity requirement.
Now comes to the logistic, almost on every floor of the wholesale markets there are some workers from the logistic companies, you can hire them to send the goods to the logistic company or places nearby. Usually, it is very cheap and it costs about 10 RMB.
