Suppose you are a westerner doing business in Guangzhou, you would prefer to live in Zhujiang new town, liede, taojin or shamian residential area where there are lots of westerners residing with convenient life necessities. Lots of western styled restaurants and pubs are available for your choice.
If you are coming from Middle East or Africa, Xiaobei or Keshan would be a better option as there are many Muslim restaurants nearby and these areas are close to Guangzhou wholesale markets.
Residential Area for Westerns in Guangzhou: Zhujiang new town, liede, taojin, shamian
Zhujiang new town and liede are newly developed CBD area in Tianhe district, adjacent to Guangzhou Tower and the Pearl River with nice environment. In Liede, there is a street called Huasheng lu, where you can find lots of western styled restaurant and bars on both sides of the road.
Taojin, close to the platinum 5-star Garden hotel and 5-star Baiyun Hotel, adjacent to Friendship Shop, is also a residential area for lots of westerners in Guangzhou. Most of them live on the streets near Garden Hotel and other streets nearby: Jianshe liu malu,
Shamian, a renowned residential place for its European architecture, is also home to many westerners travelling to Guangzhou. White Swan Hotel, Victory Hotel offer comfortable accommodation, while shang xia jiu pedestrian street nearby is a great place for shopping.
Residential Area for Foreigners Coming from Middle East and Africa: Xiaobei, Keshan
Xiaobei, adjacent to Taojin, is home to many Muslims and foreigners from Africa. On the right side of Xiaobei road, there are lots of Muslim restaurants offering Hala food for pork-free option. It is without doubt an ideal place for those Muslims who are looking for hala food restaurants in Guangzhou. If you are going out at night, you would probably be attracted by the amount of funny things sold in the night markets in Xiaobei.
Keshan, enjoying convenient location near Guangzhou Railway Station market area, is a preferred option for those businessmen coming from Middle East or Africa as it is located near the market with convenient life necessities.
