Import from China — How to Avoid Delay in Delivery Goods

If it is not the first time you Import from China, you must know the common practice here when you order something, the supplier promised to deliver the goods in time before making deals, but usually it turns out to be several days delay in delivering the goods with lots of excuses.

You might be regret or get upset, but what shall you do since you have placed advanced payment? It is impossible to leave the advanced payment and go for another supplier whom you are also not sure whether they can hand the goods in time.

If you have a very tight schedule, the delay in delivery time can greatly affect your work. For instance, you place orders for men’s winter jacket with confirmed delivery time on October 1^st, but the supplier delivers the goods about one week or ten days later, then shipping takes about 40-60 days, it would be useless since winter would pass very soon after receiving the goods in your country.

Then how can we solve the problems related to delivery time?

Find a Reliable Supplier

It is vital to find a reliable supplier who would not make deals before confirming whether they can manufacture or not. But you should also be fully prepared for some worse situations since manufacturing needs teamwork. If one process is not operating well, then it would affect the whole manufacturing process and delivery time. For example, if they can’t find the fabrics or can’t find factory doing tags, label, etc. it might also affect delivery time since not all the processes are assembled in one factory. You have to know what parts of the manufacturing process are outsourced to other factories.

Allow a Margin of Several Days

If you want to receive the goods, for example, at 20^th, October, it is better to plan ahead and arrange delivery time at about 15^th, October or earlier.

Follow up the Manufacturing Process Closely

Don’t blame others if you are too lazy and do not follow up the manufacturing process closely. You have to keep close contact with the manufacturer and know every process. If something goes wrong, then you can take quick reaction to solve it.

Sign up a Contract

You can sign up a contract with the supplier as to the delivery time and state clearly about the penalty for delaying in delivering the goods. But usually, it is impossible for stores in the wholesale markets to sign contracts with you.
