Autumn, my favorite season for travelling, so I made an escape-from-guangzhou plan to Macau after the 3-day Chinese Mid-autumn festival as so to avoid the crowds.
Earlier in the morning at about 7 am, I headed to Guangzhou South Railway Station and so sadly to buy the earliest ticket at 9 am, start from Guangzhou to Zhuhai. Even though it meant waiting for almost an hour before the train left, but I got a bit happier for the train coz of the odd date: the train started at 9 am on the 9th, September.
At about 10 am, I arrived at Zhuhai Gongbei Raiway Station and then followed the crowds to the custom gates. After passing the custom gate, then I got on the free shuttle bus to Grand Lisboa, and started the new journey in Macau. Note: there are many free shuttle buses by different casinos available near the custom gate.
In about 15 minutes, I arrived at Grand Lisboa, located on the opposite side of Casino Lisboa. In both casinos, huge crowds gambled everywhere. Since I was not so much into gambling, so after watching for about one hour and drinking a cup of free coffee as offered by Lisboa, then I left for Sao Pala Ruins.
Walk along Avenida De D Joao IV for about 200 meters, then you’ll almost come to Sao Pala Ruins. A large billboard on the plaza gave you a better direction. On the opposite side of the Plaza was the renowned Instituto Para Os Assuntos Civicos E Municiparis.
Following the crowds would give you a very pleasant view of Sao Pala Ruins. Walk straight for about 3 minutes, you would come to the Rose Church, a famous Portuguese church in Macau.
One great part about Sao Pala Ruins was that there were lots of shops selling local specialties, and the greatest thing was almost every shop offered free trials, so you can save your lunch for the free specialties.
Before coming to Macau, I was told by many Cantonese that I should try Wong Chi Kei even though it was not as famous as Palasterlias Koi Kei. I lingered outside Wong Chi Kei for some minutes. The shop was not large but was filled with crowds waiting outside. Well, my Cantonese friends would be so happy if it is included in Lonely Planet.
Then after trying all the delicious specialties, I came to the center of Sao Paula Ruins. Apart from the gorgeous Sao Paula Ruins, don’t miss the other two famous sites nearby: Macau museum and Fortress Armournal Gate.
After taking a rest for 15 minutes near Macau museum, then I made way back Grand Lisboa and walked along the river. It was amazing that I just came across the musical dancing near MGM. Woww, gorgeous though not as grand as the one in Xi’an.
At Yong Li Casino, I took the free shuttle bus to Ferry Terminal. However, the disappointed part about Ferry Terminal was that I didn’t find anything of interest there apart from the Oceanus Casino. Then I made way back to Venetians by free shuttle bus.
Great view on the way from Hongkong-Macau ferry terminal to the Venetians.
At the first sight of Venetians, I couldn’t help loving it coz of these cool dudes bringing happiness to the visitors.
The common scene of Casino was there were people gambling everywhere.
I headed to the third floor of Venetian, which enjoyed a great fame for its fake sky yet looked as if it was real and the great Cannal.
